When disaster strikes, the heart of a community is revealed. This summer, devasting floods swept across parts of Texas, leaving many families facing loss and uncertainty. At Per Stirling, we believe in showing up for our neighbors, and that’s exactly what our team did.
Through the kindness and generosity of our staff and advisors, we raised money to support the flood relief efforts in general, and to specifically provide immediate assistance and resources to those working to rebuild their homes and lives.
One of our advisors took that commitment a step further by traveling to the affected areas to volunteer in person. On July 9th, Galen Gabourel joined cleanup and recovery operation at Guadalupe River State Park. His team’s mission was to clear brush and debris from the riverbank roadways so emergency search and recovery crews could quickly reach the river and navigate more easily. They also marked larger debris piles for later removal and closer examination.
Working alongside 25 other volunteers and several park rangers, Galen’s group split into smaller crews, loaded tucks and ATVs with supplies, and headed into the riverside areas. After hours of hard work, they joined two Border Patrol agents who were performing search and recovery in their zone. What a powerful reminder that recovery is a true team effort.
